General information about the Republic of Uzbekistan


The Republic of Uzbekistan is located in Central Asia, and its total area is 448.9 thousand square kilometers. The territory of the republic is 1425 kilometers from east to west, and 930 kilometers from north to south.

The republic borders Kazakhstan to the north and northeast, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to the east and southeast, Turkmenistan to the west, and Afghanistan to the south. The length of the state border with Afghanistan is 137 km, Kazakhstan is 2203 km, Kyrgyzstan is 1099 km, and Tajikistan is 1161 km. and with Turkmenistan - 1621 km (administrative-territorial structure of the Republic of Uzbekistan).

The Republic of Uzbekistan gained independence on September 1, 1991. Today, our country has established diplomatic relations with 134 countries of the world. Embassies and consulates of 45 foreign countries, representative offices of a number of foreign organizations, and trading houses operate in Tashkent.
